VBS Recap (Photo Gallery)

(the Photo Gallery is at the end of this post)

This last week we had a great VBS at Grace Baptist Church and we want to show you a little of what it was like.

We had a Great group of kids come (averaged 66 per night and 33 kids that came every night). God blessed during the teaching and counseling times and several children were saved. Here are a couple of their stories:

A young girl came to me during counsel time and when I asked her why she came, she said she wanted to know about God and be a World Changer. I was able to talk with her and she prayed to be saved! The best part was during her prayer when she asked God to save her from her sins and help her to be a World Changer! I was so excited that she really understood the theme that we had been teaching! I was able to give her a Bible and she was excited to start reading it.

On Monday night a young man came back to counsel time. I spoke with him and a  couple other children. This young man prayed to be saved and appeared to understand the Gospel clearly. On Friday night he came back again and, again, I was able to talk to him. The fact that he came again concerned me.

I asked him, “Why are you here to talk to me?”

He answered, “I want to know about Jesus”.

I asked him to stay with me while I shared the gospel with another young man and I would talk to him after that. He agreed, helped me share the Gospel with this other young man, and Praise the Lord the other young man prayed to be saved!

Then I asked him what he wanted to know about Jesus. He answered very simply, “ I want to know everything about Jesus”. Inside me I shouted for joy as I explained to him that he could spend his whole life studying the Bible and still wouldn’t know everything about Jesus but that it would be worth the effort. He responded, “I’m going to. I’m going to spend my whole life learning about Jesus!”

It was thrilling to watch one of the girls realizing the truth of the Gospel. She prayed in her own words asking Christ to forgive her sins and accepting His gift of eternal life. When she finished praying, she looked up with a big smile and tears streaming down her face. She truly had peace knowing that heaven would now be her eternal home!

It is very exciting to see how God is using this year’s VBS to open doors of ministry in our neighborhood. Several of the neighborhood children came to VBS, and the parents have been thrilled about the children’s excitement. Now some of the children are eager to start coming to Sunday School with us each week!

Having worked for some time with several of the children from Countryside, I was amazed as I watched all the children Sunday night and saw the degree of enthusiasm, participation in the various activities, and cooperation with the leaders. Of course, there were some that did not participate or cooperate, but overall, it was amazing to see.

It was amazing to see God work in the lives of the children. Three different times I was asked by three different people three different questions. One was, “Why do the Chines people not worship God even though He is their creator?” Another was, “What did Jesus mean by what he said to the Pharisees?” As he asked me this question he showed me the verse in Gospel of Matthew.  I was amazed that he had already started reading his Bible and that he was reading to understand the scriptures and not just to read.  The last question was, ” Would God have used Noah if he was a Muslim?”  God did help me answer these questions and I am excited about what God does next in their lives.

Each year at our VBS we encourage the kids to memorize verses and we have a have a point system to help encourage in that. This year the point system was,if a child said a verse they would get 2000 points for each verse quoted. Of course every year you have the over achieving kids who love to say the verses and get the points and then you have other kids who have no desire to participate in learning verses at all! This year I saw a big change because all of our kids even those kids who normally had no desire to participate in the other parts of VBS wanted to learn the verses and tried very hard quote the verses. Each night during our Team Time (when we would have the kids say verses to us) each team leader would have at least two kids, maybe three, trying to quote verses to one of us at the same time! It was so exciting to see God give these kids the desire to learn and memorize his word!!

I pray the verses that these kids learned will make a lasting impact on their lives in a great way!!

The Children responded in a HUGE way to the points system that we had in place where they could earn 2000 points per verse that they quoted from verses we chose with our theme. A good portion of the children said all five verses. The workers for VBS worked as hard as the children did to make sure every child had the opportunity to say as many verses as they could.

We also had a lot of fun in game times…

We also had GREAT snacks that church people donated and our world renown snack team prepared…

Here are a few of the pictures of our VBS. Enjoy and please comment below…

It is exciting to see how God is working all over the country. I’m Randy’s sister, and so thankful for his opportunities to minister with all of you. I’ll be praying that you continue to see fruit in the weeks and months ahead.
    God Bless,

We don’t know who the children and young people are who are going to be the next David’s and Daniel’s, Evan Roberts’ and Elisabeth Fry’s. But surely we must have a desire for God to raise up a new generation of children and young people who have faith like them. Surely we want our children and young people who are in this local church to have faith like theirs or rather greater than theirs.

We place Timothy among the children of the Bible, because it is said of him, “From a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15). He had a grandmother named Lois, and a pious mother named Eunice. When very young, they taught him from the Word of God. Happy Timothy, to stand by the side of a dear mother, and hear from her lips the great things God had done for His people in every age!
